Pyrite, known also as “fool’s gold,” was considered to be the natural wealth of Rudawy Janowickie. Nowadays, three little lakes located in the old excavations remind of pyrite mining. The waters in the lakes, from which the names of the lakes come, have colours depending on the metal compounds present in the soil. The route past “Kolorowe Jeziorka” (“Coloured Lakes”) calls for experience in mountain cycling because of steep climbs and a number of forest roads on the way.
